With significant travel and tourism experience across a wide spectrum of skill sets including boardroom and senior executive general management candasmith can offer a first-hand and practical knowledge of the travel industry combining strong business logic with financial and commercial acumen.

 

Set up in 2009 by Chris Smith, once of Ilkeston Co-Op Travel, candasmith is proud to name some of the leading brands in the travel industry amongst  Our clients. 

Steph Braisby - Associate

 

Steph started her career at Ilkeston Co-op Travel (ICT) where she fulfilled various roles in both a sales and operational environment.

 

An accomplished store manager, Steph headed ICT’s flag ship store in Nottingham before moving to manage the Head Office Sales Support department where she gained nationally recognised qualifications in both Management and Customer Service.

 

In recent years she has successfully managed the build and implementation of several large travel technology projects for ICT and Hays Travel, has spent time working for West Nottinghamshire College engaged in their Center Parcs training contract and provided significant support services for the Skills Travel Group.

 

Steph has 28 years of travel industry experience, has travelled extensively throughout the world and commands an in-depth product and procedure knowledge which is evident in her skilled training and operational ability.

Hugh Smith - Associate (Configuration, Implementation & Support Manager)

 

Working in the travel industry for the past 6 years Hugh is an accomplished commercial & marketing analyst.


The all-around skill set Hugh possesses has seen him create and implement automated costing and yield management reports and procedures through Excel. As well as improve targeted marketing efficiency and success for the Skills Travel Group though customer profiling analysis, utilisation of CRM system and growth of email/online marketing.


Hugh has also provided invaluable support on multiple candasmith projects including specialist product development, website project management, business strategy analysis and system implementation.  


More recently Hugh has been integral in re-configuring and re-structuring the iSell sales platform deployed by The Midcounties Co-operative Travel which has led to candasmith being retained to provide support and development services to the business.


Hugh continues to broaden his skill set and is considered by his peers to be a highly accomplished ICT technician commanding an in depth knowledge of Traveltek's iSell/iBos applications and the Roeville Coach Reservations and "Webres" platform".

Chris Smith - Founder 

 

Possessing 38 years of travel industry experience, Chris spent 25 years with Ilkeston Co-op Travel (ICT), rising to the role of Managing Director in 1999.  During his time at the helm, through to 2006, he led the business to become one of the leading leisure travel businesses in the UK.  His innovative and versatile management style witnessed ICT receiving numerous awards including recognition for Innovation in Technology, Marketing and Training; the company also won the converted Independent Travel Agency Chain Award, two years in succession.

 

Chris was also instrumental in the set up and development in the Co-op Breaks brand.

 

During the period of 1991 to 2006 he served as a main board Director of the Ilkeston Co-Op Society.

 

Having also held senior roles at Thomas Cook, Hays Travel and The SkillsTravel Group heading business critical projects in a strategic development capacity. More recently Chris has relinquished his interests in the business to focus on a new role within The Midcounties Co-operative Travel.

 

Commanding a wide ranging and practical general management skill set, Chris is an accomplished performer across a number of disciplines.  He is commercially astute and proficient in many types of marketing strategies with an established ability to generate sales; boasting an established track record in relation to creating robust operational systems and procedures with a high degree of competence in change management processes he has proven adept at adapting businesses to an ever changing commercial environment.

 

His extensive experience and customer centric focus is serving him well in his current role as an Independent Consultant and Business Advisor.

 

Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Travel and Tourism.
